Life Insurance

A contract dictating the insurer pays a sum of money upon the insured's death or other event, such as terminal illness or critical illness. Term Life Insurance policies are purchased for a defined period of time. Whole, or Universal Life Insurance covers the duration of the insured's life and is paid through an annual premium.

Disability

A form of insurance that insures the beneficiary's earned income against the risk that disability will make working (and therefore earning) impossible.

Long Term Care

Long-term care insurance (LTC or LTCI) helps provide for the cost of long-term care beyond a predetermined period. Long-term care insurance covers care generally not covered by health insurance, Medicare, or Medicaid.
